TRANSPORTATION
The closest airport to Markree Castle is Knock (40 min drive). However, you may find more flight options into the Dublin or Shannon airports (both are 2 1/2 hour drives to the wedding venue).
On the wedding day, we have organised a coach service to pick up guests from the Radisson Blu and Clayton Hotel around 1:30 p.m. with drop off at Markree Castle. There will also be a bus available from the wedding venue at midnight and 1 a.m. to bring guests back to the Clayton Hotel and Radisson Blu. Otherwise, it is highly recommended to pre-book a taxi in advance on the evening of the wedding if you are not staying on-site. The most popular taxi app in Ireland is FreeNow, but Uber and Bolt are in some cities.
There is a bus service from Dublin airport to Sligo that runs a few times a day. Check out the timetable information here. There is also a train route from Dublin Connolly station (in the city centre not at the airport) to Sligo town. You can look for times and tickets here.
ACCOMMODATION
Markree Castle has been exclusively reserved for our wedding weekend. There are 31 castle rooms available for our wedding guests. If you would like to avail of one of these rooms, please let us know ahead of time as you will be unable to book directly with Markree yourself. A minimum of two nights is required and rooms will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. The rooms are approximately €245 per night (including breakfast). A surcharge may apply for additional guests (€50) and children (€25) staying in the room. Markree will take payment from you directly upon checkout on Monday, May 19th.
Alternatively, we have reserved a block of rooms at options near Sligo town and the venue:
A block of 20 rooms is available for our wedding guests at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Sligo for the nights of Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th. The rate is €195 for B&B (includes breakfast). If upgrading to a premium room, a €30 surcharge would apply; for a junior suite, a €60 surchage will be added. Please give reception our names when booking directly with the hotel for this rate.
The Clayton Hotel Sligo has blocked off 20 rooms for our wedding guests for the nights of Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th. The rate is €157 for B&B (including breakfast) or €129 (excluding breakfast) for Friday. The rate is €197 B&B (with breakfast) or €169 (without breakfast).
